B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Engineering College, which was established in the year 1984 by the Founder Chancellor Alhaj Dr. B.S. Abdur Rahman, has now been upgraded as B.S. Abdur Rahman University. This is the first Muslim Minority Institution which obtained “A” Grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the very 1st cycle of Accreditation. The University offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in various disciplines such as Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Bio-Technology, Molecular Biology & Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, Genetics & Genomics, Architecture, Islamic Studies, Computer Applications, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Business Administration.
The University is located in the outskirts of Chennai city on the G.S.T. Road, (Chennai-Trichy National Highway) 7 kms from Tambaram and 2 kms from Vandalur Railway Station and 17 kms from the International Airport. Being adjacent to the Arignar Anna Zoological Park, it is easily accessible by city buses.
